“Voting is the expression of our commitment to ourselves,
one another, this country and this world.”
– Sharon Salzberg
This week my husband and I will be traveling to New Mexico to visit our son. Since we will be out of town on Election Day we have cast our ballots already at town hall. This was the first time we have done this, and we found it very easy to do. We did not need to make any explanations or excuses. No questions were asked beyond who we are and where we live. The process might be different where you are, but in Massachusetts it is pain-free.
If you have any indication that complications might make it difficult for you to exercise your right and responsibility to vote on Tuesday, I urge you to take a few minutes to vote early if you can. Then you can feel smug, knowing that task has been done. You will free to go about your business Tuesday, away from home if you like. Not even voting should get in the way of travel!
“Every election is determined by the people who show up.”
